OUR UNDERSTANDING OF LEARNING
Science can only determine what is, but not what shall be, and beyond its realm, value judgements remain indispensable.
Albert Einstein

The Theory of Adult Learning is our Foundation
Our understanding and approach to learning and development is built on the theory of adult learning: andragogy. Andragogy is student-centered, experience-based, problem-oriented and collaborative.
We follow Burns’ findings that learning is a relatively permanent change in behaviour with behaviour including both observable activity and internal processes such as thinking, attitudes and emotions.
Our Architecture stimulates the Senses.
The sensory stimulation theory tells us that effective learning occurs when the senses are stimulated. The vast majority of knowledge held by adults is learned through seeing. By stimulating the senses, especially the visual sense, learning can be enhanced. If multi-senses are stimulated, learning can be even greater. Stimulation through the senses is achieved through a greater variety of colours, volume levels, strong statements, facts presented visually, use of a variety of techniques and media. The architecture of the UniManagement center follows this theory and you can see it in each room of our premises.
Learning Effectiveness
In order to make learning effective for our participants, we consider in our programs, learning activities and workshops that the individual consists of many elements, specifically the intellect, emotions, the body impulse, intuition and imagination. We encourage our participants to take responsibility for their own learning. Their insights and experiences are the key pillars of our learning activities and make the participant the protagonist. Additionally, we believe that learning needs to focus on factors that contribute to solving significant problems or achieving significant results.
UniManagement’s Role as Facilitator
Our role as UniManagement staff follows the principle of facilitative learning: Learning will occur by establishing an environment and atmosphere in which learners feel comfortable to consider new ideas and are not threatened by external factors. We as UniManagement staff consider ourselves as learning and leadership development facilitators and not as management trainers.
